A car left in the sun can reach an inside temperature of 130 to 150 degrees in a matter of 15 minutes, depending on the outside temperature and

exposure to sun.

This means your pet will die quicky.  He will literally cook from the

inside out.  You DON'T want that.

Best to leave Phideaux home as southwest temperatues start to rise.

If you see a dog in a car, we are to call the fire department immediately.

I have seen people break windows to allow an animal to survive.

I will let it up to you.

THIS IS ALSO APPLICABLE FOR CHILDREN YOU MIGHT SEE

LEFT IN A CAR.

Just remember if you break windows, glass will fly.  Cover your eyes if you have decided to do this.  Rub-Down Dog Canine Massage is not advocating any means of rescue for the lay person and is not responsible for your decision in this case.

DO NOT LEAVE DOGS - OR ANY PETS - IN HOT CARS!!
Signs of a Heatstroke ~ A Veterinary Emergency!
  • Panting

  • Staring, glazed eyes

  • Anxious expression

  • Pacing

  • Refusal to obey commands

  • Warm, dry skin

  • High fever

  • Rapid heartbeat

  • Vomiting

  • Collapse

Precautions to take:

  • Keep your dogs in-doors. Crate them, keep them partitioned in a safe place, and comfortable.

  • If  you have to keep your dogs outside, kennels should be well-ventilated and in the shade.

  • Be sure there is consistent shelter from sun at all times.

  • Provide plenty of fresh water in a bowl that cannot be tipped over.

  • Avoid excessive exercise on hot days.

  • Walk early before heat and humidity climb.

  • Provide paw protection from hot pavements and surfaces.

  • Use a chilled scarf on your dog if he will tolerate it.

Better yet, prevention is the best .  It only takes a short time in our southwest heat to create a serious problem. Keep your best friend out of the heat as much as possible.
